David Alan Rapoport Hits the Final Note David Alan Rapoport, 80, of McLean, Virginia - and a lover of puns - has played his final coda, passing away after a well-orchestrated life filled with love, laughter, and a symphony of interests. Originally hailing from Southfield, Michigan, David never dropped the ball—unless, of course, he was on the tennis or racquetball court. A lifelong sports fan, David was always on the ball when it came to cheering for his beloved Michigan State Spartans, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Lions. Though his teams often struck out or fumbled their chances, he remained ever loyal, proving that true fandom never takes an off-season. David’s career was no minor note—he worked in harmony with the legal world at the American Bar Association, the National Health Lawyers Association, and the U.S. Department of Labor, ensuring justice was always in tune. He never missed a beat, whether orchestrating policies or keeping everyone on their toes like a well-timed allegro. Music was a cornerstone of David’s life, and he made a real baritone impact playing his euphonium in the Vienna Concert band and the Falls Church Community band, as well as serving on the Temple Rodef Shalom Cultural Committee. His love of classical music was never just Bach-ground noise—he could always Handel a deep discussion about symphonies, operas, and the finest compositions. David’s sense of humor was always in play, his wit as sharp as a well-placed racquetball shot. Though he has now taken his final bow, his memory will continue to echo in the hearts of his friends and family. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and loyalty—because in the great game of life, David was always a grand slam. David is survived by his wife of 52 years Nancy, children Alexis, Dena (Chris), and Jay (Rachel), and grandchildren Ruthie, Emet and Devereaux. Son of Ruth and Abraham, deceased and younger brother to Ralph, also deceased.
